While checking everyone for glaucoma we always use the gold standard of testing, the Goldman tonometer. We find many patients are thrilled not to have to experience the "puff of air".
Our testing of the field of vision also exclusively utilizes the gold standard of the Humphrey Visual Field instrumentation. We routinely evaluate your cornea for dry eyes or corneal changes and diseases by using our state-of-the-art corneal topographer.
By using this we have many digital images to monitor the improvements with your dry eye. It is also crucial in managing keratoconus and LASIK.
OPTOVUE ANNOUNCES iWellnessExam™ with iVue® SD-OCT ® SD-OCT
A new program revolutionizes the way clinicians can implement SD-OCT technology
The iWellnessExam has been added to the portable new spectral OCT from Optovue - the iVue –launched in 2010, and already setting industry records. The incorporation of the new iWellness exam, which scans for both retinal and glaucomatous pathology, will complement the everyday comprehensive eye exam.
The diagnostic capabilities of the practice will be greatly enhanced with the implementation of the iWellness program.
The iWellnessExam is non-invasive and can be performed quickly and easily as an initial step in a routine comprehensive eye exam.
iWellness images provide a cross sectional view of the retinal layers with 5 micron resolution. In addition to the cross sectional views, the iWellnessExam
provides a retinal thickness map and a ganglion cell complex map. These outputs assist the doctor in identifying very early signs of disease, or confirm the patient’s ocular health.
Early detection of retinal abnormalities and disease may lead to earlier and safer treatments and in many cases, prevent or slow vision loss.
The iWellness exam is recommended annually regardless of symptoms.
Experienced Surgeons
The surgeons at Sugar Land Total Eye Care are among the most experienced and well-trained in the entire country. Together they have performed thousands of surgical and laser vision correction procedures. All of our surgeons are board-certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Our vision correction surgeons are fellowship-trained, having completed extensive training as eye surgery specialists.

Sugar Land Total Eye Care in conjunction with The Whitsett Vision Group, "Custom Vision Specialists", have been awarded the certificate of accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc. (AAAHC). The award means that The Whitsett Vision Group has met nationally recognized standards for quality care.
His in-house laser center is specially designed for vision correction. The laser center is constantly monitored to maintain strict humidity and temperature levels, which are imperative for the equipment to work properly.
